Concept Cars

In 1997, John worked to implement a plan for his new car, the D2. Unfortunately, this never got off the ground, but it shows that John lived the dream until the day he died. This revolutionary sports car would accelerate from 0-60 in 2.4 seconds using a Smokey Yunick hot vapor cycle engine. 20 years later, cars are starting to come close to that 2.4 second time. Innovation is synonymous with the name John Z. DeLorean.

After the D2, John started to work on his next car design. It was what he called the “Ultimate Car”. This was to be a mid engine car made of lightweight composite materials. At a total weight of under 1500 pounds, John’s car would have destroyed anything on the road.

The legacy lives on. After John’s death in 2005, his family and fans continued to dream. The D-NG (Next Generation) is a tribute design by Angel Guerra and Allan Portilho. Partnering with Kat DeLorean, this beast would include a John Z. DeLorean designed hybrid hydrogen engine to provide both amazing power and efficiency. No more waiting for your car to charge or worrying about where you can charge your car on a road trip.

John knows cars. John Z. DeLorean’s name is synonymous with automotive innovation. If it is not innovative, it is not a DeLorean.

And lets never forget about this concept car!
