John spent his golden years working to resurrect the defunct DMC. He planned to develop a new car —called the D2 — gathering funds by selling high-end watches under the name DeLorean Time. As a gift for his grandson, John wrote and illustrated a children’s book called “The Car Kid”. It describes growing up as a kid in Detroit and what inspired him to change the world.
